At Michigan State University, Arjen was held to high expectations as NCAA scouts quickly coined him as "The Canadian Flash".
In a an NCAA D1 environment, Arjen recorded 62 tackles, three interceptions, and 12 pass break-ups in 40 career games. At MSU he won the B1G Ten (2013), Rose Bowl (2013), and Cotton Bowl Classic (2014) championships.
in 2015, He was tied for seventh in the B1G Ten for pass break-ups (10) and 12 passes defended (0.9 per game). Alongside two forced fumbles, and two interceptions, he earned an eight ranked spot on the team with 72 production points. To wrap up his career, Arjen received 2015 President’s Award.

Selected in the second round (17th overall) by the Edmonton Eskimos during the 2016 CFL Draft, Arjen Colquhoun became the first Canadian in a quarter century to earn a position on the starting lineup in a debut-game in the Canadian Football League.
